Job Description

Today, Soraban's building software to help accountants automate their client data intake process. Our next step is to build the Copilot for accountants. We are looking for ambitious people to come build the best piece of software for accountants.

We’re building the Copilot for accountants!

Soraban is a post-product-market-fit B2B SaaS startup with rapidly growing ARR and customer usage. Our platform helps tax firms automate data intake and service delivery and we’re scaling fast. As our infrastructure matures, we’re hiring our first DevOps & Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of reliability, security, and remote desktop hosting at scale.

Our infrastructure is at an inflection point. We currently run a mix of Heroku and AWS, but are consolidating on AWS and need someone to lead that effort. You'll be responsible for our core infrastructure, CI/CD, cloud hosting, and DevOps practices, ensuring we stay reliable, secure, and cost-efficient as we grow.

We’re also expanding a cloud-hosted desktop solution that enables accounting firms to work in a secure, managed environment. You’ll help own and scale this offering, turning it from an early-stage feature into a productized platform and a key part of our business model.

We’re a very early-stage startup, so this role is hands-on, scrappy, and high-impact. You’ll work closely with the leadership, ship quickly, and help lay the technical foundations of the company.

We’re a hybrid team (3 days in-office, 2 days remote), with offices in San Francisco, CA and Tempe, AZ

  • Heroku Migration: Lead our migration off Heroku. Evaluate and implement the right infrastructure strategy to support growth.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Set up and manage AWS environments optimized for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency. Familiarity with RDS, EC2, ALBs, IAM, and VPC networking is ideal.
  • Customer Hosting Platform: Own and scale our cloud-hosted desktop solution for customers. Help productize and operationalize this into a core part of our business.
  • Reliability & DevOps: Improve our monitoring, QA, and incident response systems to minimize downtime and mitigate risk.
  • CI/CD & Automation: Optimize our deployment workflows to improve developer productivity and delivery speed.
  • Security & Secrets Management: Implement best practices for secrets management, infrastructure hardening, and compliance.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Use Terraform to manage reproducible, scalable environments.
  • Scrappy, Pragmatic Execution: Bias toward action. Favor simple designs, future-proof only when needed.
  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, and Infrastructure Engineering.
  • Deep experience with the AWS ecosystem and Terraform.
  • Familiarity with elastic compute services like ECS, EKS, or Fargate.
  • Experience scaling web applications and relational databases.
  • Strong background in CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Cost-conscious mindset; knows how to optimize spend without sacrificing performance.
  • Ability to lead major infrastructure projects (e.g., Heroku migration, SRE foundations).
  • Clear communicator and collaborator; excellent spoken and written English.
  • Security-minded: You think in terms of least privilege, auditability, and good security hygiene.
  • You’re familiar with Ruby on Rails, React, and Postgres environments.
  • Experience with Windows servers, Active Directory, RDS.
  • You’ve built monitoring, alerting, and incident response systems from scratch.
  • You’ve worked directly with founders and small teams to move fast and execute. Instead of a cover letter, please send over a link or details of past projects that show your experience and impact.

Important Note: Instead of a cover letter, please send over a link or anything that my team and I can review to quickly figure out if we have a fit. Just show us that you can do this job.

Please do not reach out if you are a recruiter, thanks!

We move fast at Soraban so we've designed our interview process to look for candidates who can hit the ground running quickly.

Below is what to expect in our interview process.

  • Quick technical screen
  • Take home assignment
  • Technical interview over Zoom
  • Offer The typical interview process should take 14 days from start to finish. That said, we have moved more quickly and look to accommodate candidates who might have a short timeline or competing offers. The more information you can share about your situation and where you are in the process, the more we can either attempt to expedite/match, or save you time if we cannot.
