The western world is falling behind.
To stay competitive in the 21st century, we need to build. Cities, housing, data centers, transport, energy infrastructure. The need is urgent. The ambition is there. But the process is broken.
Today, we can’t build at scale. Every year, millions of pages of reports are hand-written by technical consultants just to get permission from the government to start. Environmental impact studies. Transport assessments. Flood risk reports. Bureaucracy is the bottleneck, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
SchemeFlow is building AI systems to beat the bureaucracy of building.
Our generative AI technology gives technical consultants superpowers to write these reports in minutes rather than weeks. This accelerates delivery, and frees them to focus on solving real problems rather than repetitive regulatory paperwork.
If you’re inspired by the challenge of building cities and unleashing progress through a better physical world, SchemeFlow is creating that future.
It’s time to build. Join us.
At SchemeFlow we are building the next-generation platform for civil engineers to write reports for construction projects - think Cursor for Transport Planners, Flood Risk Engineers, and Environmental Consultants (and more!)
We’re already powering real construction projects across the UK and US, and growing the team as we scale from tens → hundreds → thousands of report types. Some of the exciting challenges that we’re tackling along the way:
Our Tech Stack
You will be working across the whole tech stack
Frontend - Vue.js, integrated directly into Microsoft Word
Backend - FastAPI
Cloud / DevOps - Google Cloud / GitHub Actions
Data - Supabase / Postgres / PostGIS for geospatial data. Vertex Pipelines for data processing
AI - various LLM models (Gemini, OAI, Anthropic, Llama etc.) We’re looking for a very experienced software engineer to join the team.
You have 5+ years experience as a Full Stack Engineer, shipping real products to actual users.
You can ship code fast - typically multiple times per day. You can deliver polished, customer-ready features.
You have incredibly high standards and attention to detail. You will spot UI inconsistencies or poorly structured code. This sort of thing may make you angry and you will fix it.
You can handle large challenges and solve them independently. This might mean difficult coding problems, or it might mean working out what exactly needs building when things are unclear. Your end-to-end ownership of big problems makes you an incredible software engineer.
You will seek to deeply understand our users and the important work they do. You will jump at the opportunity to meet with them, dive into the details of how they do their work, and use this to make SchemeFlow a delightful product.
You love building. Technology has never been “just a job” for you. You are the kind of person who sees a problem, and builds a side project to fix it. This is a London-based role. If you are not currently working in the UK, please confirm in your application that you already have the right to work in the UK.
Hybrid - min. 3 days a week in person at SchemeFlow HQ in WeWork in Central London.
Potential relocation opportunity to San Francisco depending on visa + business need in next 12 - 24 months.
This is a high-output role. You’ll be trusted to deliver results fast, often ahead of traditional timelines. Expect to ship code multiple times per day.
You’ll be surrounded by ambitious teammates bringing energy and urgency to their work, and going the extra mile. Compensation
£80 - £120k depending on experience.
0.2 - 1% equity. If SchemeFlow is successful, you may never need to work again. The western world is falling behind.

Step 1 - Application
Complete your application on Work at a Startup, and we will review your application
Step 2 - Interview
45 mins
You will meet Jonny (CTO) to chat about your experience, and to assess your technical skills. No live coding, but we will likely discuss code on screen together.
Step 3 - Day at SchemeFlow HQ (paid)
You will come to the office to work together on real SchemeFlow code for the day, and meet the rest of the team. We believe that real work deserves real ££ - to be clear this is a paid day’s work (at a day rate equivalent to the salary range).
We understand that it can sometimes be difficult to arrange this on a weekday, so we are happy to find another option that works - for example 2x evenings or a day at the weekend.
Step 4 - Offer!
Once we’re happy that you’re a great fit, we will make you an offer to join us full time!
