Example customers: aiMotive, Bear Flag Robotics, Monk, Outrider, Oxa, Zipline
PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU ARE BASED IN BELGIUM, AND ARE ABLE TO GET TO OUR OFFICE FROM TIME TO TIME WITHOUT NEEDING TO GET ON A PLANE.
(We will not look at CVs from elsewhere at the moment, thanks for understanding).
At Segments.ai we're helping robotics and automotive companies like Rivian, John Deere, Torc Robotics, Nuro, and Zipline accelerate their path to autonomy. We're looking for two Senior Full-stack Engineers to join us.
Our platform enables efficient annotation of multi-sensor data for AI training and validation, serving innovative startups and industry leaders building everything from autonomous drones to self-driving cars.
As a Senior Full-stack Engineer at Segments.ai, you'll build visualization and annotation tools, involving lots of complex technical challenges.
Here's some recent work that might give you a sense of what you'll be doing:
Our culture is built on openness. We maintain transparent communication from founders to team members, and we extend this same spirit of openness to our customer relationships. This creates an environment where everyone can contribute their best work and grow together.
You'll work directly with Bert, our CTO and co-founder, who brings deep expertise in Computer Vision and Machine Learning.
Our team includes three full-stack engineers (soon to be five, including you!), a backend/ML engineer to ensure our infrastructure supports our ambitions, and a UX designer making complex technical tools feel intuitive.
We build our platform using TypeScript, Vue 3, and Three.js on the frontend. Our backend is powered by Python/Django and PostgreSQL. We host our platform on AWS, using tools such as Lambdas, Step functions, and AWS Batch for data processing, and S3 Buckets for file storage.
We're a product team where everyone wears multiple hats and has a voice in technical decisions. We're small by design. Each person has a direct impact on our product and plenty of room to take ownership of significant features.
We're looking for senior engineers who make everyone around them better. That means you:
Have strong technical skills in TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks (Vue.js or React)
Can take ambiguous problems and turn them into clear solutions
Know when to dive deep into technical excellence and when to optimize for immediate customer impact
Take the initiative to identify and solve problems before they're assigned to you
Are comfortable working directly with customers to understand their needs
Have experience with or interest in 3D graphics (Three.js/WebGL/WebGPU experience is a plus)
Write code that others want to read and maintain
Can work independently while staying connected with the team
Are based in Belgium (please only apply if you are based in Belgium, we will not consider CVs from elsewhere right now) This role might not be for you if:
You need detailed specifications before starting work
You prefer to focus purely on coding without customer interaction
You're uncomfortable with the ambiguity of a fast-moving startup Most days start with a quick Slack check for any urgent customer needs or bug reports. If nothing's pressing, you'll pick up your current task from Notion. Maybe you're optimizing our 3D viewer's performance, or designing a new feature based on customer feedback.
You might jump on a quick huddle with a teammate to bounce ideas or dive into a PR review to learn about changes in other parts of the codebase. We believe in "engineer-to-engineer" communication with our customers, so you might help troubleshoot a complex technical issue they're facing.
We're serious about protecting deep work time. Our only recurrent meetings are a Monday morning sync to align on weekly priorities, and a bi-weekly all-hands to share company-wide updates. That's it: no death by meetings here.
