About the role Join Mbodi AI (YC X25), an AI robotics startup founded by two former Googlers committed to pushing the boundaries of intelligent robots. We’re looking for a Founding Software Engineer to join our core team. You’ll help architect and build the full stack that powers how robots see, think, and act. As a founding team member, you’ll play a critical role in shaping our culture and mission from the ground up. What You’ll Do Build core infrastructure and services that power our AI-driven robotic systems Design APIs and interfaces between AI models, robotic hardware, and human operators, working across the stack from robot-facing services to real-time agent orchestration. Collaborate closely with ML, perception, and robotic engineers to ship production-ready systems Help define and shape our engineering culture, roadmap, and processes What We’re Looking For 2+ years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent depth through exceptional projects/startups. Strong experience with Python and proven track record building production-grade systems and maintaining them at scale. Experience building and scaling real-time systems data pipelines or experience working and integration AI/ML models. Comfort working across system boundaries (e.g., ML, robotics, cloud, hardware) High agency and bias toward action — able to move quickly with clear code and ownership Adaptable, execution-focused, and thrives in the fast pace and ambiguity of startup life Bonus: experience with robotics, ROS, distributed system, or control systems, but not required Compensation Competitive salary and generous equity package based on qualifications and experience. Salary: $140K - $220K + bonus Equity: 0.50% - 2.00% Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance.
