About Loombotic We're reimagining how wire harnesses are manufactured. Backed by Y Combinator, we're on a mission to build the world's first fully automated wire harness factory. Wire harnesses are the nervous systems of everything from EVs to aircraft to data centers. Despite being a $200B+ market, manufacturing is still surprisingly manual and inefficient. We're changing that through building robotics and automation. The Role As a mechanical engineering co-op/intern, you'll work directly with our founding team to build automation systems that will revolutionize wire harness production. This is a hands-on role where you'll learn the manufacturing process while contributing to real automation projects. What You'll Do Build and test automation prototypes - Help design and build fixtures, jigs, and automated systems Learn the domain - Master wire harness assembly processes and quality standards Support production - Assist with assembly, testing, and process improvement CAD design - Create models and drawings for manufacturing fixtures and automation components Real engineering work - This isn't fetching coffee - you'll work on critical systems that ship to customers Required Skills Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field CAD experience (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar) Hands-on project experience (class projects, personal builds, robotics clubs, etc.) Strong problem-solving skills Eager to learn and comfortable asking questions Nice-to-Have's Robotics club or competition experience Basic programming skills (Python, Arduino, etc.) Machine shop or makerspace experience Previous internship in manufacturing or hardware What We Offer Competitive hourly rate Real responsibility and impact on a YC startup Mentorship from experienced engineers Potential for full-time offer Ready to build the future of manufacturing?
