About the Role

Lead the science team for Amazon Translation Services to design algorithmic solutions for translating billions of words across 130+ locales. Manage a team to build machine learning and NLP-based translation systems with minimal human touch. Collaborate with stakeholders to define strategy, drive architecture, and deliver production systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead team in designing algorithmic solutions for language translation
• Oversee software lifecycle: design, experimentation, implementation, testing
• Build and develop a strong science and engineering team
• Collaborate with business partners, scientists, engineers, and product managers
• Define science and engineering strategy and drive system architecture

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• 3+ years of scientists or machine learning engineers management experience
• PhD or Master's degree
• Knowledge of ML, NLP, Information Retrieval and Analytics
• Experience hiring and growing top talent
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language

Nice to Have:

• 5+ years of building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application experience
• Experience building complex software systems involving deep learning, machine learning and computer vision
• Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and management to collect requirements and describe features
