About the Role

The Applied Scientist role focuses on enhancing Alexa user experiences through Large Language Models (LLMs), Natural Language Processing, and Machine/Deep Learning. You will develop core LLM technologies, design novel metrics, and collaborate cross-functionally to shape Alexa's future.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop core LLM technologies including supervised fine tuning and prompt optimization
• Research and design novel metrics and evaluation methods to measure AI performance
• Create automated, multi-step processes using AI agents and LLMs to solve complex problems
• Communicate effectively with leadership and collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Participate in on-call rotations to support systems and ensure service availability

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• PhD, or a Master's degree and experience in CS, CE, ML or related field
• Experience in building models for business application
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• Experience in algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, or high-performance computing

Nice to Have:

• Experience in professional software development
