About the Role

The Applied Scientist will develop and implement state-of-the-art algorithms and models for supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning across text, image, and video modalities. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems in Generative AI and communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve complex problems in Gen AI
• Design and execute experiments to evaluate algorithm and model performance
• Think big about multi-year development arc of Gen AI and identify new opportunities
• Communicate results and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Support development of Generative AI technologies for Amazon-scale use cases

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• 3+ years of building models for business application experience
• PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• Experience in algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, or high-performance computing
