About the Role

Applied Scientist II role developing AI agents for Microsoft's BIC Agent Cloud. Responsibilities include implementing state-of-the-art AI solutions, fine-tuning foundation models, and ensuring ethical AI practices. Requires experience with generative AI/LLMs and collaboration across teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and implement state-of-the-art AI using foundation models, prompt engineering, RAG, and multi-agent architectures
  • Fine-tune foundation models using domain-specific datasets and evaluate model behavior
  • Build rapid AI solution prototypes and contribute to production deployment with MLOps/AIOps
  • Translate research into production-ready solutions and measure impact through A/B testing
  • Apply fairness and bias mitigation to ensure responsible AI practices throughout development

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field AND 2+ years related experience OR Master's Degree AND 1+ year OR Doctorate OR equivalent experience
  • 1+ years' hands-on experience with generative AI or LLM/Machine Learning
  • Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire and every two years
  • Meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with MLOps Workflows including CI/CD, monitoring, and retraining pipelines
  • Familiarity with modern LLMOps frameworks (e.g., LangChain, PromptFlow)
  • Track record of publishing in peer-reviewed venues or filing patents
  • Experience presenting at conferences or industry events
  • Hands-on experience developing and deploying live production systems
