About the Role

The Applied Scientist II role focuses on developing generative AI solutions for conversational ad experiences at Amazon Ads. Responsibilities include driving end-to-end AI projects, training models, and collaborating with engineering and product teams. The position requires expertise in generative AI, large language models, and machine learning to enhance advertising and shopper experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end generative AI projects with high ambiguity, scale, and complexity
  • Perform hands-on analysis of data sets to build models enhancing monetization and shopper experience
  • Train generative AI and machine learning models, run experiments, and deploy at scale in production
  • Work closely with software engineers on technical designs and implementation of production solutions
  • Research new generative AI and machine learning approaches and identify science opportunities

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

  • 3+ years of building models for business application experience
  • PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in professional software development
  • PhD, or a Master's degree and experience with generative deep learning models like CNNs, GANs, VAEs and NF
  • Experience with natural language processing and generative model architectures
  • Background in advertising technology or e-commerce platforms
  • Demonstrated track record of innovative AI solution development

  • Base pay ranging from $136,000 to $223,400/year depending on geographic market
