About the Role

The Applied Scientist III role at Amazon Alexa AI involves prototyping, optimizing, and deploying ML algorithms in Generative AI. The scientist will research novel algorithms in NLP or CV, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and publish research papers to advance AI capabilities for Alexa products.

Key Responsibilities

• Research and build Proof Of Concepts advancing state-of-the-art AI/ML for GenAI
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect and execute AI projects
• Publish research papers in internal and external venues of repute
• Mentor other scientists and review their work
• Support on-call activities for critical issues

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• 8+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience
• PhD or Master's degree with 8+ years of applied research experience
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning

Nice to Have:

• Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy
• Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark
