About the Role

The Data Center Chief Engineer ensures optimal operation of all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment in AWS data centers. Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, emergency response, project management, and team training to drive innovation and reduce operational costs.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure peak efficiency of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment
• Manage large-scale projects from conception to completion including budgeting and documentation
• Train and support engineering team in equipment troubleshooting and operations
• Oversee day-to-day operation and maintenance of mechanical/electrical equipment
• Act as escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the data center region

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• Bachelor Degree/Practical engineer in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent
• Electrical/Mechanical Engineering proved experience
• 3+ years of Data Centre Engineering/Operations Experience or critical infrastructure experience

Nice to Have:

• High/Low Voltage Authorised Person (AP) experience
• Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout as well as low voltage cabling
• Project Management experience
• Experience in operations and on-call support for Data Center facilities or Mission Critical Plants
