About the Role

The Data Center Chief Engineer ensures all electrical, mechanical, and safety equipment in AWS data centers operates at peak efficiency. They manage maintenance, emergency response, and lead a team of technicians while overseeing critical systems like power and cooling. This role involves capacity planning, vendor management, and on-call support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management and leadership of DCEO Engineering Team
  • Establish performance benchmarks and prepare reports on facility operations
  • Oversee operation and management of critical systems (e.g., switchgear, generators, UPS, chillers)
  • Data Center capacity planning and reporting
  • Respond to out of hours emergency calls as first level escalation

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

  • 3+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 3+ years of data center or mission critical facilities experience
  • Technical (Military/Trade School) training or degree in a relevant field (e.g., electrical, mechanical)

Nice to Have:

  • 4+ years of data center engineering experience
  • Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree
  • Experience leading a team
