About the Role

The Data Center Chief Engineer oversees critical infrastructure systems in AWS data centers, acting as the primary escalation point for facilities issues and ensuring operational reliability. They maintain electrical and mechanical equipment to support 99.999% uptime, perform root cause analysis, and lead technician teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as primary escalation point for all facilities-related issues and oversee critical systems operations
  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshoot within SLAs
  • Train and guide Engineering Operations Technicians and help set team culture
  • Create and deploy new standard practices for operations teams
  • Work with IT managers to coordinate projects and optimize plant safety and efficiency

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

  • 4+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • 4+ years of data center or mission critical facilities experience
  • Technical training or degree in relevant field (electrical, mechanical)

Nice to Have:

  • 5+ years of data center engineering experience
  • Associate's degree or above, or Bachelor's degree
  • Experience leading teams
