About the Role

Principal Applied Scientist role in Amazon's AGI organization, leading technical strategy and development of Generative AI technologies. Responsible for inventing ML techniques, driving research directions, and mentoring scientists while delivering scalable solutions for Amazon-scale use cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Define key research directions and invent new machine learning techniques
• Lead scientific reviews, scrutinize experimental design, and foster shared understanding
• Mentor scientists, guide career growth, and participate in hiring and leadership development
• Build scalable science and engineering solutions through full-cycle development
• Drive development of Generative AI technologies for Amazon-scale use cases

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• Graduate degree in Computer Science, Math, or related field
• Experience building complex real-time systems involving AI, ML, and NLP with successful customer delivery
• Experience with project delivery for large cross-functional projects with evolving requirements

Nice to Have:

• PhD with specialization in AI, NLP, Machine Learning, or Computational Cognitive Science
• 10+ years combined academic and research experience
• First author research in top-tier journals/conferences on scaling laws, evaluation metrics, or neural architectures
