About the Role

Principal Cloud Software Engineer focusing on SSD storage solutions for AI and HPC fleets at Microsoft. Responsibilities include designing fleet resiliency systems, developing monitoring and repair solutions, and collaborating with hardware and software teams. The role requires extensive experience in storage architecture and software engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build best-in-class fleet resiliency systems for storage devices at scale
• Develop scalable live monitoring capabilities, fault detection and repair solutions
• Lead collaboration projects with hardware, firmware and software teams for fault reduction
• Build automation to drive repair efficiency for storage operations in the production fleet
• Analyze data to identify and implement technical improvements for Azure systems

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience
• 6 years of software/firmware engineering development experience
• Ability to analyze storage system solutions and drive recommendations based on data
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements including Microsoft Cloud Background Check

Nice to Have:

• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience
• 8 years of experience with computer/server storage architecture and development of SSD based storage systems
• Experience with distributed/cloud computing technologies and services (Spark, Hadoop, Azure, AWS, Cosmos)
• Experience with scripting and query languages such as PowerShell, SQL and Kusto queries
• Experience with Visualization tools, such as Power BI
