About the Role

Principal Engineering Manager role leading the Viva Engage platform team at Microsoft. Responsible for managing engineering teams, driving technical strategy, and delivering highly available cloud services for enterprise communication and AI applications. Focuses on building scalable systems and fostering engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Build, develop, grow and lead a team of engineers
• Lead the vision, strategy, and execution for the Storyline and Corporate Communications platform
• Drive adoption and impact of Engage and its integrations across Microsoft 365
• Partner with other Engineering teams, Product, Data Science & Analytics stakeholders
• Provide oversight, accountability, and leadership for technical architecture and decisions

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience
• 2+ years of people management experience
• Ability to meet Microsoft security screening requirements including Microsoft Cloud Background Check
• Experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Azure cloud offerings such as Azure Postgres, Azure Cosmos DB
• Analytical skills with systematic approach to software design for highly scalable services
• Ability to communicate technical details clearly and drive complex projects across organizational boundaries
• Experience owning 24x7 cloud services with high availability
• Experience hiring, managing and coaching high performing engineering teams
