About the Role

Principal Site Reliability Engineer role at Microsoft Teams focusing on infrastructure, network security, and reliability for planet-scale distributed systems. Responsibilities include driving strategic improvements in network security, monitoring, and troubleshooting while ensuring high availability and performance of mission-critical services.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive strategic improvements in network security, monitoring, and troubleshooting across services
• Leverage metrics and monitors to improve reliability of mission-critical services
• Drive project plans, release plans, and work items with stakeholders
• Act as Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and mentor engineers, working on-call
• Proactively seek new knowledge to improve availability, reliability, efficiency, and performance

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• Doctorate degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field with 2+ years experience OR Master's with 3+ years OR Bachelor's with 5+ years OR equivalent experience
• 2+ years experience in TCP/IP concepts, load balancing, CDN, ACL, routing, TLS, certificate lifecycle management
• Experience with network analysis and performance troubleshooting using standard tools
• Technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration

Nice to Have:

• Doctorate degree with 5+ years experience OR Master's with 8+ years OR Bachelor's with 12+ years OR equivalent experience
• 7+ years experience with large-scale cloud or distributed systems
• Experience with network security, cloud security, security policy management, and certificate lifecycle management
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure services (IaaS) and automation technologies
• Experience managing horizontal initiatives/programs spanning multiple teams/services
