About the Role
Meta is seeking PhD Research Interns to join their FAIR Multimodal Foundations teams. The role involves advancing AI through fundamental research in NLP, speech, computer vision, and multimodal understanding. Interns will develop novel solutions, conduct experiments, and contribute to publications while working on real-world AI challenges.Key Responsibilities
- Perform research enabling learning of semantics from text, audio, images, video, and other modalities
- Brainstorm with research mentors, review literature, and analyze existing solutions for challenging research problems
- Develop novel solutions, implement prototypes, and perform extensive experiments on meaningful benchmarks
- Draft and polish research reports and/or publications
- Present research outcomes to internal and/or external audiences
Required Skills & Qualifications
Must Have:
- Currently has or is in process of obtaining PhD in NLP, Speech Processing, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, AI or equivalent
- Research and/or work experience in NLP, Speech Processing, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or Deep Learning
- Experience in Python, C++, or other related programming languages
- Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at time of hire and maintain it during employment
Nice to Have:
- Proven track record demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, or publications at leading conferences (ACL, EMNLP, CVPR, NeurIPS, etc.)
- Experience advancing AI techniques in NLP or Computer Vision/Machine Learning, including open source contributions
- Experience manipulating and analyzing complex, large scale, high-dimensionality data from varying sources
- Experience utilizing theoretical and empirical research to solve problems
- Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment
- Intent to return to degree-program after internship completion
