About the Role

The Senior Applied Scientist will advance and deploy state-of-the-art GenAI systems for Alexa AI, collaborating with cross-functional teams to create scalable solutions and lead high-impact programs. This role involves bridging research with production deployment, driving innovation in conversational AI, and fostering scientific excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Research, develop, and implement real-time AI services advancing GenAI
• Conduct comprehensive analysis of algorithms and experimental findings to drive innovation
• Create reliable, efficient code for production systems with high software engineering standards
• Partner with cross-functional teams to architect and execute technically rigorous AI projects
• Contribute to research publications in top-tier venues and support on-call activities as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• PhD in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics, or equivalent quantitative field
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or related language
• Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
• Experience in building machine learning models for business application
• Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy

Nice to Have:

• Publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
• Experience in GenAI production systems development
• Experience leading/coaching junior scientists
