About the Role

Senior Quantum Simulation Engineer at Microsoft Quantum, modeling and simulating topological qubit devices. Develops advanced simulation methods for open quantum systems, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and guides qubit design through predictive analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and refine complex models of quantum devices and operations
  • Develop, test, and validate models to improve accuracy and performance
  • Compare simulation outcomes with experimental data to guide improvements
  • Build and maintain simulation tools, libraries, and modeling systems
  • Conduct simulations to explore device behavior and scalability

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years experience OR equivalent
  • Research experience in quantum device theory (superconducting, topological, spin, etc.)
  • Familiarity with numerical methods for simulating quantum devices
  • Effective communication skills for cross-team collaboration

Nice to Have:

  • Doctorate in Physics, Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years experience OR equivalent
  • Experience modeling dynamics of open quantum systems
  • Background in topological and mesoscopic device physics
  • Proficiency with high performance computing environments
  • Experience with collaborative code development in Python or Julia
