About the Role

The Software Engineer 2 role on the AI Frameworks team at Microsoft involves developing AI software for running models across various platforms, from supercomputers to IoT devices. Responsibilities include working on abstractions, runtimes, and APIs to enable large-scale training and inference on novel AI hardware, requiring hands-on software design and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform software development in C/C++, C# and other languages
• Apply engineering principles for defining robust and maintainable architecture and designs
• Collaborate broadly across multiple disciplines, from hardware designers to ML developers
• Work on fundamental abstractions, programming model, runtimes, libraries, and APIs for AI
• Tackle hardest problems in building a full end-to-end AI stack

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical software engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++ OR equivalent experience
• 1+ years of experience with C#
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
• Pass Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

Nice to Have:

• 4+ years of experience with C/C++
• 2+ years of experience with C#
• Exposure to building highly available highly scalable microservice architecture
• Exposure to working with orchestration platforms like K8 and Service Fabric
• Ability to work independently and successfully deliver on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Written and oral communications expertise
