About the Role
Senior Data Architect role at AWS focusing on Data Lake and Analytics solutions. The position involves leading complex cloud data projects, designing scalable data architectures, and helping customers derive business insights from their data. This is a customer-facing consulting role requiring travel to client locations.Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex projects with autonomy involving multiple Amazon and customer teams
- Design and deliver solutions that solve for new levels of complexity, scale and performance
- Create and apply frameworks, methods, best practices and artifacts that deliver prescriptive guidance to customers
- Guide customers' technical architecture and investments to maximize alignment with AWS platform
- Help customers define target business outcomes and lead projects to exceed these goals
Required Skills & Qualifications
Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field
- 8+ years of IT platform implementation experience in a highly technical and analytical role
- 5+ years of Data Lake/Hadoop platform implementation experience
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in implementation and performance tuning Hadoop/Spark implementations
- Ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges in enterprise environment
- Experience with analytic solutions applied to Marketing or Risk needs of enterprises
Nice to Have:
- Experience in a Chief Data Architect role or similar
- Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering or Math
- Hands on experience leading large-scale global data warehousing and analytics projects
- Understanding of database and analytical technologies including MPP, NoSQL, Data Warehouse design, BI reporting
- Implementation and tuning experience using Amazon Elastic Map Reduce (EMR)
