About the Role
The Sr. Mechanical Engineer, Cryogenic Hardware role at AWS Center for Quantum Computing involves designing and implementing cryogenic hardware solutions for quantum processor systems. Responsibilities include developing novel packaging solutions, conducting simulation-driven designs for EMI reduction, and owning end-to-end product development from requirements to deployment.Key Responsibilities
- Design high-density novel packaging solutions for quantum processor units
- Develop cryogenic mechanical designs for signal conditioning sub-assemblies and delivery systems
- Create simulation-driven designs to reduce EMI within qubit environments
- Own end-to-end product development through requirements, design reviews, and testing documentation
- Work cross-functionally to drive decisions and refine standards for operational excellence
Required Skills & Qualifications
Must Have:
- MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics with 7+ years of relevant experience
- Expertise in CAD (SolidWorks) and FEA (ANSYS/COMSOL)
- Expertise in cryogenic mechanical hardware design and knowledge of materials for cryogenic environments
- Expertise in design for manufacturability including machining tolerances, materials, and capabilities
Nice to Have:
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics
- Previous experience with mechanical silicon device packaging for cryogenic environments
- Proficiency in RF/Microwave measurement and test equipment
